Google take Oracle copyright to Supreme Court

Google has asked the U.S supreme court to hear a copyright case.The case was brought by Oracle four years ago and accuses Google of infringing patents and copyrights related to Java in its Android mobile OS.Representatives of Oracle and Google could not comment immediately.

Android is the most popular mobile operating system, but Oracle says Google copied basic elements to develop Android OS.Oracle is seeking roughly $1 billion on its copyright claims.Oracle says Google copied the structure of Java APIs(application programming interfaces) where as Google says that APIs should not be copyrighted because they are required to write compatible programs.

"Early computer company could have blocked vast amounts of technological development by claiming 95-year copyright monopolies over the basic building blocks of computer design and programming." Google said in its filing according to Reuters report.
