Great Fire a non-profit organisation that monitors internet Censorship in China,said that Chinese Government hackers launched a Man in the Middle (MITM) attack against user's of iCloud service.
The first attack on iCloud was reported on Saturday and has officially begun iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus rollout on China's mainland.
Hackers used fake certificate and Domain Name Service address for the iCloud service, between users and iCloud servers,which allow them to gain passwords,iMessages,contacts and photos.Users in China who prefer Chrome and Firefox for logging into their iCloud account would get an alert about fake certificate.Perhaps users of Mac OS X or any other browser might not be aware of this rerouting.
the attack on iCloud users in China is an effort to help the government bypass security features of iPhone devices by gaining their usernames and passwords,allowing authorities to gain access to cloud stored content.However,Chinese government also targeted Yahoo,Google,Microsoft's Outlook and Chinese messaging platform Weibo.
