Google 2 step verification with security key

Google is taking its users privacy very seriously after 5 million Google account were stolen.Google's 2 step verification offers a strong extra layer of protection for Google accounts.Today Google announced even stronger protection for its users,Security Key is a physical USB second factor that only works after verifying the login site is truly a Google website, not a fake site or any phishing page.

Rather than typing code, just insert security key into your computer's USB port and tap it when prompted in Chrome. When you sign into your Google account using Chrome and security key,you can be sure that cryptographic signature cannot be phished.

Security key and Chrome incorporate the open Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) protocol from the FIDO alliance,so other website with Google account login system can get FIDO U2F working in Chrome today.

However,Google said that security key works at no extra cost but you have to buy a compatible USB directly from a U2F participating vendor. You can also but security key directly from Amazon just follow this link.Google also lists some limitations like requirement of a USB port to use the security key and feature will not work on browsers other than Chrome.
