About Google Person Finder:
The Person Finder's webpage allows anyone to submit the details of missing people and also to look for missing people. Its interface is simple and user friendly. Google Person Finder collects information from the emergency responders. People can also post details about their loved one or relatives who are missing or found. It searches for the results in its online database.
Within hours of the this disaster in Nepal, 200 names had been uploaded.
All the details submitted by Person finder's site are public and google does not verify them..
Google Person Finder, a project by the Google Crisis
Response division of Google.org, was built by Google engineers in response to
the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti to help those affected by the earthquake
connect with their loved ones. The tool has become a regular feature of recent
disasters, when reliable information is needed rapidly.
